Good morning, and Happy Tuesday! Today is an awesome day because I get to introduce you to one of my very favorite friends in the whole world: Kelly Cain, author of the Multicultural New Adult novel, Altered, set for release on February 2nd by Penner Publishing. Kelly is the 6th author who has so graciously agreed to be part of my takeover team for THE FINAL COUNTDOWN AUTHOR TAKEOVER PARTY ON JANUARY 18TH FROM NOON UNTIL 6:00 PM (CENTRAL STANDARD TIME) ON FACEBOOK! Kelly will be hosting from 3:00 to 3:30 PM, and I know y’all are going to find her as amazing as I do.
So how do I know Kelly? Well, I know Kelly from a couple of places. First, of course, I know Kelly because she’s part of my “inner circle of besties” at Penner Publishing; but, before that, I met Kelly through an Outlander Series fan group on Facebook. Yup, that’s right ladies — Kelly and I just “click” because we share a love for Diana Gabaldon’s epic saga of Jamie and Claire Fraser and, more importantly right now, Sam Heughan as James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Frazer on the Starz adaptation. ::sigh::
So one day I posted to this Outlander group on Facebook that I’d received a publishing contract and how excited I was. The next thing I knew, I got this weird stalker-like message from Kelly telling me that she’d followed my lead and that she’d also been accepted for publication! (Okay…there was nothing weird or stalker-like about it. I just like to give Kelly a hard time). I’m so thrilled for Kelly, and her novel — Altered — is a really good read! So what can I tell you about Kelly Cain the author?
From Kelly’s Bio:
Kelly is a writer of multicultural new adult and contemporary romance. After many years of being entrenched in business and data analysis, she began writing a couple years ago and discovered it to be her passion. She loves reading most genres, but historical fiction and new adult are her favorites. She has two adult daughters, and is originally from California but now lives in a suburb of Houston, Texas.
Kelly and I are sorta like the yen and yang of Penner Publishing. Like myself, Kelly didn’t really begin writing fiction until about two years ago. Since then, she’s gone on to have a short story published in a collection by several authors, and she’s busy working on revisions to a contemporary romance, and is actively involved in several writing projects including (1) a novel set during the 1980s, (2) writing a 1930s screenplay, and (3) working on a couple of short stories — all while working full time! And people tell me that I exhausted them!
One of my favorite things about Kelly is that she is an Army veteran. That’s right — she enlisted and served in the United States Army right out of high school. This is not something I would ever have guessed, but it makes me love her that much more because of my own fierce patriotism.
