It’s Quips and Quotes Friday! Â Here’s hoping you enjoy the following snippets from actual conversations among my family!
This week my 7-year old had – in the midst of a temper tantrum – broken something in my house. Â This isn’t an unusual occurrence. He gets mad and something gets broken. Â It happens a lot. Â I was so angry I was ready to come completely unglued! Â I looked at him and said, “Braden! Â That is totally unacceptable! Â You’re in so much trouble! Â You’re in more trouble than you’ll have any idea how to handle!”
Without missing a single beat, he said “Oh man! Â I’ve been in that kind of trouble before!”
And so he has…
Teenagers love to get their little digs in whenever and however they can. Â Sometimes it’s done on purpose, and other times it’s done because they’re completely oblivious to what comes out of their mouths. Â I still can’t decide which fits the following conversation I had recently with my 16 year old daughter.
“Mom,” said Amber, “are you getting sick?”
“No…? Â I feel fine…?” Â I responded.
“Oh, okay…you look like it, though.”
I cannot wait until this girl has children  of her own!
At my son’s school, 1st graders are required to know 131 “high frequency words” by the end of the first semester, and another 159 by the end of the school year. Â As a result, we’ve been working hard on these words and I made flash cards to make studying them easier on both of us. Â Braden really seems to enjoy these flash cards and one day he decided to make a few extra on his own of some of his favorite words. Some of the words he chose made sense, like “Star” and “Wars” (since he loves everything Star Wars), and “Wimpy” and “Kid” (since he loves the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books). Â I was a bit thrown, however, when I came across the word “Bikini.”
Someone wanna help me out on this one?
