Samantha Brick:  Sexy and She Knows It!  LMFAO

Samantha Brick started a firestorm with her recent article for Mail Online entitled,   There are downsides to looking this pretty: Why women hate me for being beautiful.   In the beginning, many readers were sure that her comments were made tongue-in-cheek; but, as the week continued, Brick came forth on several media sources to defend her comments.  Very quickly it became clear that this was no joke.  Samantha Brick wants the world to know that, not only is she beautiful, but that beauty has been a terrible hardship to her throughout her life.  Poor Samantha Brick!

In her article, Brick discusses the perks of her beauty in terms of the positive attention and freebies she gets from unknown men and provides examples such as the following:

“On a recent flight to New York, I was delighted when a stewardess came over and gave me a bottle of champagne.

‘This is from the captain — he wants to welcome you on board and hopes you have a great flight today,’ she explained.

You’re probably thinking ‘what a lovely surprise’. But while it was lovely, it wasn’t a surprise. At least, not for me.

Throughout my adult life, I’ve regularly had bottles of bubbly or wine sent to my restaurant table by men I don’t know.”

Brick goes on to illustrate other similar “gifts,” including a situation where a strange man gifted her with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, and yet another situation where a man paid her cab fare as she exited at her destination.

Brick states,

“And whenever I’ve asked what I’ve done to deserve such treatment, the donors of these gifts have always said the same thing: my pleasing appearance and pretty smile made their day.”

Excuse me for a moment while I gag.  Seriously.  I think I threw up in my mouth.

Brick goes on to talk about the downsides of such “beauty” in terms of the jealous retribution she receives from other women.  She states that other women are jealous of her beauty and don’t trust her with their men.  She’s never been asked to be a bridesmaid in a wedding, and she says she’s lost jobs and promotions when she’s had female bosses.  She goes on to say,

“It was clear that when you have a female boss, it’s best to let them shine…”

Whoa!  Generalize much?  Please excuse me a moment while I gag again.

If you’ve looked at the images of Brick, it’s hard to argue that she is, in fact, an attractive woman.  As she herself states, she is tall, slim and blonde; three factors which society today has come to equate with physical beauty.  However, I’d argue that “beauty is as beauty does,” and – further – that true beauty is on the inside.

Do I believe Brick when she states that strange men find her attractive?  Absolutely.  Do I believe that other women “hate” her?  Absolutely.  But here’s the glitch:  I don’t believe that other women hate her because her beauty threatens them.  A beautiful face and nice body are not – in and of themselves – a threat to most women.  Even an ugly woman with a lot of self-confidence, but with a less pleasing shape, can be seen as beautiful by men and a threat to other women, simply by her actions.  Conversely, a beautiful woman can suddenly turn ugly when an ugly personality becomes part of the equation.  And, to be honest, a self-centered, egocentric, “everybody look at me because I’m so beautiful” attitude is not attractive, and can make even the most beautiful woman (or handsome man) unattractive to those who know them.

How does all of this relate to Brick?  I guess that’s for you to decide. My personal experience is that a truly beautiful woman – one who is beautiful both on the outside and on the inside – doesn’t need to shout her beauty to the world.  She is often well-liked by those around her, regardless of how stunning she is, both because of her beauty and because of who she is.  True beauty is one part physical, and one part internal.  That is to say that a woman who is truly beautiful woman is one who is physically attractive on the outside and equally beautiful on the inside.  She is seldom seen as a threat by other women because those who know her also know her to be loyal and honest, and wouldn’t dream of violating a friendship.

I’ve known and been pleased to call some truly beautiful women my friends.  Women who could easily stop traffic.  Women who are not only physically beautiful, but whose personalities shine from the inside out.  Women who walk into the room and they “glow.”  All eyes in the room go straight to them and are reluctant to move to other images.  Honestly, I envy those women.  But envy is not the same as jealousy.

Ms. Brick clearly should investigate her subject a little better next time.  Otherwise, she may be destined to be a pretty woman who’s “as dumb as a box of rocks.”  Or, in this case, as stupid as a  “Stacked Brick.”

  1. Speaking as a member of the male gender (And yes, I have my glasses on.), I honestly don’t find her attractive. Thoroughly full of herself, yes. When she gets older and loses her looks (You should see what the 1950s-1960s sexpot Gina Lollabrigida looks like now.), she’ll get paid back in full.

  2. I agree with Mickey. The years ahead will be cruel to her as she scrambles to preserve some ounce of what she deems beautiful. She’ll quickly come to find out that at the end of the day, and our life, we are left with our good deeds, service to others, kind hearts, etc. all the things which make us truly beautiful.

She’ll probably get plastic surgery at some point and turn into one of those freaky big lipped women with the same nose and shiny plastic skin! Eww!

  3. What’s really sad is all the attention she is getting from this is going to be the highlight of her life, I suspect. And yes, she’s going to have trouble with the aging process! I don’t believe her when she says that pilot sent her champagne. Why do they have a bottle of Champagne to give away on airlines? Huh. I thought there was a drink limit.

    1. That is kinda weird. I haven’t flown for many years, so I wasn’t even aware there was a drink limit. I did think it was strange, though, that the airlines would be toting around full bottles of champaign.

    2. Sorry, I have to butt in. I’m thinking she met the pilot in one of those cheesy airport bars, they both got tipsy and she made him promise to buy her a bottle of champagne – knowing all along that later she could claim, ‘a pilot once gave me a bottle of champagne.’ I think Brick, if I can call her that, is very manipulative, indeed. haha!
